Harden and Secure
Software Security Hardening
Most security problems are not clever attacks. They are weak passwords, forgotten admin accounts, out-of-date packages, exposed secrets and settings left on their defaults. Hardening is the work of finding and closing those gaps before someone else does.
We review how your software is configured, deployed and accessed, give you a prioritised list of what to fix, and can do the fixing for you. Our focus is practical risk reduction for the systems you actually run, not a report that sits in a drawer.
What's included
Configuration and infrastructure review
Hosting, servers, cloud settings, headers and environment configuration checked against good practice.
Authentication and access control
How people log in, what they can reach, and whether accounts, roles and permissions are set up the way you think they are.
Dependency checks
Out-of-date or vulnerable packages and libraries identified and updated.
Secrets and credentials review
Keys, tokens and passwords found in places they should not be, and moved somewhere safe.
Secure deployment and hosting
Safer build and release processes, backups, logging and monitoring, so that problems are noticed quickly.
Remediation
We fix the issues we find, or hand your developers clear, step-by-step instructions.
How we work
01
Understand the system
We map what you run, where it lives and who can reach it, and agree what is in scope.
02
Review and prioritise
We check the system against good practice and rank each finding by how likely and how damaging it is.
03
Fix and verify
We close the gaps, confirm each fix works, and leave you with documentation of what changed.
Who it's for
Small businesses
Sensible, proportionate protection for your website, customer data and online accounts, explained without jargon.
Larger organisations
A documented hardening review that supports your internal risk, compliance and procurement requirements.
Common questions
How is hardening different from a security audit?
An audit tells you what is wrong. Hardening goes further and fixes it. We review and report, then make the changes, so you finish with a more secure system and not only a list.
Will this disrupt our live system?
We plan changes carefully, test them away from production where possible, and schedule anything risky for a quiet time. You are told what is changing and when.
Do you guarantee our system will be secure?
No one can honestly promise that. What we do is reduce your exposure, fix known weaknesses and leave you better prepared, with a clear record of what was done.
